BIODATA
Osman Bakar, a doctorate in Islamic philosophy is currently Holder of Al-Ghazali Chair of Epistemology and Civilizational Studies and Renewal at ISTAC-IIUM and Emeritus Professor in Philosophy of Science at University of Malaya. He was also formerly Malaysia Chair of Islam in Southeast Asia at Georgetown University, Washington DC. Dr Osman is author and editor of 42 books and numerous articles on various aspects of Islamic thought and civilisation. His most well-known book is Classification of Knowledge in Islam (1992). His latest work is Environmental Wisdom for Planet Earth: The Islamic Heritage (2022). He has been named among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world since 2009.

Associate Professor Dr. Roy Anthony Rogers

BIODATA
Associate Professor Dr. Roy Anthony Rogers serves as an Associate Professor with the Department of Strategic and International Studies, University of Malaya, having joined the department in 2001. Served as the Head of Department from 2012 till September 2020. He has also taught at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) and the Malaysian Defence Armed Forces College (MDAF). In 2012 he obtained Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and his research interests are government and politics of the Central Asian republics and Xinjiang. His area of specialisation includes Political Science, International Relations (Theories of International Relations) and History (China and Central Asia).

Associate Professor Dr. Jatswan Singh

BIODATA
Associate Professor Dr. Jatswan Singh is a Senior Fellow with the Institute of Politics and Administrative Sciences at University of Rostock, Germany and Research Associate with the Department of International & Strategic Studies at Universiti Malaya. He is the founding father of the Department of International and Strategic Studies. He played an essential role in shaping how the discipline of International Relations was first introduced to Universiti Malaya. Dr. Jatswan Singh was also the anchor in establishing the department’s annual publication, the Malaysian Journal of International Relations which was launched in 2013 and continues to be published today.

Professor Dr. Farish Noor

BIODATA
Dr Farish A. Noor is Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of the Arts and Social Sciences FASS, Universiti Malaya UM. His work focuses mainly on 19th century Southeast Asia, with a special focus on the workings of colonial knowledge and power and a critique of Orientalist discourse in the region. His recent publications include: Farish A. Noor and Peter Carey, Menuju Jurang Pemisah: Ras, Kuasa, dan Kekerasan Kolonial di Hindia Belanda, 1808-1830 (Jakarta: KPG Gramedia Publishers, 2021); Data-Collecting in 19th Century Colonial Southeast Asia: Framing the Other (Amsterdam University Press, 2020); America’s Encounters with Southeast Asia 1800-1900: Before the Pivot (Amsterdam University Press, 2018); The Discursive Construction of Southeast Asia in the Discourse of 19th Century Colonial-Capitalism (Amsterdam University Press, 2016); and The Malaysian Islamic Party 1951-2013: Islamism in a Mottled Nation (Amsterdam University Press, 2014).
